THE KAMELISH GUIDE
What is camel milk powder?
A straightforward introduction to camel milk powder, what to look for on the label and how it differs from infant formula.
Camel milk powder is a dairy food made by removing much of the water from camel milk. It is prepared for drinking by adding water according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The ingredient list matters: a pure camel milk powder and a blended product are different choices.
Start with the ingredients
Read the full ingredient list rather than relying on the picture on the front. Check whether the product contains only camel milk or includes other milks, sweeteners or added ingredients. Check the allergen information too. Camel milk is animal milk; it is not vegan or dairy-free.
What does it taste like?
FAO describes camel milk as broadly similar in composition to cow’s milk, with a slightly saltier taste. Individual products can vary. Start with the preparation instructions on your pack, as the amount of powder you use affects the finished drink.
Powder and prepared milk need different care
Keep the dry powder as directed on its packaging. Once you mix it with water, follow the instructions for prepared milk. A shelf-stable unopened pack does not mean a prepared drink can be left unrefrigerated indefinitely.
Meet Kamelish
Kamelish is preparing its ordinary camel milk powder range. For current pack information, ingredients and launch availability, visit our product page or contact the team before ordering. Product-specific nutrition information should come from the finished pack, rather than a general article about camel milk.
Is it infant formula?
No. Ordinary camel milk powder is not infant or follow-on formula. It should not replace breast milk or infant formula for babies under one year. Ask your health visitor or GP about a baby’s feeding needs.
